The Karyotypes of Abbottina springeri Banarescu and Nalbant From Korea

Abstract
The chromosome of Gobioninae, Abbottina springeri, Pseudogobio esocinus, Squalidus gracilis majimae, Gnathopogon strigatus were studied. The results obtained such as the number of somatic chromosomes, the type of chromosomes according to the centromeric loci and the number of chromosomal arm(AN) were as follows: A. Springeri, 2n=50, 13m-12sm, AN= 100; P. esocinus, 2n=50, 9m-12sm-4a, AN=92; S. gracilis majimae, 2n=50, 9m-14sm-2a, AN=96; G. strigatus, 2n=50, 8m-l7sm, AN=100. In this study, neither inter-individual polymorphism nor heteromorpic chromosome were observed. Particularly, the chromosome of A. springeri is reported at first. The shape of the mouth and the presence of barbels are typical for Abbottina, but A. springeri showed the difference in the general pattern of karyotype of A. rivularis. In further, A. springeri should be checked about taxonomic position in the Gobioninae.
